Working with cards in a child itinerary

Cards in a child itinerary behave differently from cards in a standard itinerary. Understanding the relationship between master itinerary and child itinerary cards will help you manage content efficiently across your fixed departure trip.

Linked/connected cards (from the master itinerary)

When you open a child itinerary in Card View, cards inherited from the master itinerary appear faded out. A faded card is dynamically linked to the master - its content is pulled directly from the master itinerary in real time.

This means any change made to a card on the master itinerary will automatically appear in all linked/connected child itineraries.

Editing the master card from within a child itinerary

If you want to update a master card without leaving the child itinerary:

  1. Hover over the faded card.

  2. A tooltip will appear reading 'This card currently pulls all its data from the master itinerary.'

  3. Click the 'Edit Master' button.

  4. A panel will slide in from the right, allowing you to edit the master card.

Note: Any changes you make here will be sent to all child itineraries where this card is still linked to the master.

Disconnecting a child card from the master itinerary

If you need to customise a card for a specific child itinerary, for example, to change a price, note or card title or name of the card, you can disconnect it from the master itinerary:

  1. Click on the applicable faded card to open it.

  2. Click the 'Disconnect' button at the top right hand corner of the card.

Once disconnected, the card:

  • is no longer linked to the master itinerary;

  • will not receive updates if the master card changes;

  • can be edited freely within the child itinerary; and

  • displays a notice reading 'This card no longer pulls data from the master itinerary.'

You can then edit the card as you would any standard itinerary card, including price, check-in/check-out times, supplier content, tasks, attachments, documents and notes.

Cards created from scratch on a child itinerary

You can add brand new cards to a child itinerary that have no connection to the master itinerary. These cards behave exactly like cards on a standard itinerary. They will not display any master-related notice.

This is useful for adding child-specific items such as individual travel arrangements or transfers that are not part of the shared fixed departure itinerary.

Day headings and 'At a Glance' data

  • Day headings - Day column headings pre-fill from the master itinerary. They can be overridden within a child itinerary without affecting the master or other child itineraries.

  • 'At a Glance' data - 'At a Glance' data also pre-fills from the master itinerary. You can edit or extend it within a child itinerary.

Note: Once you have made any changes to 'At a Glance' data on a child itinerary, that child will stop receiving 'At a Glance' updates from the master itinerary. If you have not made any changes, it will continue to pull automatically from the master itinerary.
